Well, here we are. This is our second review on this blog. Today, we are reviewing L&F Pizza in Westmont. This small (and I mean small) pizza place has been a Westmont staple for 60 years. You don't stay in business for 60 years making one product if that product is no good, so my expectations for this Westmont landmark were high. There is no dine in there, so we ordered pick-up and ate it at my daughter's place. The unmistakable aroma of fresh baked pizza filled my car on the ride to her place, making the 5 minute drive seem like hours. We were joined by my son Anthony, Brad (Jen's significant other) and my wife, Mary, who is not a huge fan of pizza (I married her anyway). Mary had the Meat Ravioli, which she said was very good (extra points for the garlic bread and meatball). The pizza was fresh, hot, and looked delicious. The cheese was melted perfectly, the sauce was neither too sweet nor too tangy. However, the real star of this show was the crust. If you like thin crust (and I do), then you will love this pizza. The crust was thin, light, and crispy - in other words, perfect. If I had to pick one con about this pizza, I guess it would be the size. We ordered the largest pie they had, 16". I know other pizza places have 18", 20", and even 22" pizzas. There were 3 of us eating and we finished the whole pie, meaning no cold pizza for breakfast the next morning. Other than that, I highly recommend L&F Pizza. Especially if you like thin crust, you won't be disappointed. I give them a 4 slice review. --- Frank
I had been dying to try L&F Pizza since I first discovered it a couple years ago, but I had never gotten around to trying it before our review in August. L&F looks like your quintessential pizza parlor: small, with a sign and a logo that appears not to have changed since the store opened in 1960. I ordered over the phone (large 16" cheese and sausage), and was told my large pizza would be ready in 25 minutes, pretty speedy if you ask me! I walked into the small lobby (not much more than a counter and a chair) with my dad and was immediately hit with the smell of fresh, good food. We paid for our order in cash, but I had misheard the amount of cents owed, so I was a penny short when he rang up our order. As I scrambled to find a penny, he assured me that wasn't necessary and insisted I not worry about it, which I thought was extremely kind. We got home, unboxed the pizza and took the lid off of my mom's ravioli, and what do I find but a little note left just for me by L&F! I absolutely loved this personal touch and inside joke, something you're most likely only to find at a local place like L&F. The pizza was just as good as it smelled. L&F's special is their thin crust, which we got, and I understood why it was their signature style. I'm not typically a huge fan of thin crust, but I really enjoyed L&F's thin crust. The pizza was so good, in fact, that my dad, my brother, and myself were able to polish the whole thing off in one sitting. All in all, this beloved local joint was so much fun to visit, and their pizza was delicious (not to mention affordable to boot!). I give L&F 5 slices. --- Jennifer
